When he was growing up he always felt that he was different. He really never quite fit into the circle of friends that the neighbor hood boys formed. Playing rough, rolling around in the dirt, and climbing tree houses were not amongst the favorite things to do on his list.
Instead he liked to secretly play with his younger sisters dolls and tip toe to his mothers room and try on all her shiny sparkly jewelry. He knew that his behavior was not normal, but it was normal to him.
All throughout life he had to hide who he really was. His teen years were the hardest. He struggled with his feelings and emotions but he could never deny the truth inside.
When he got to college, he finally meant a new circle of friends. Friends that understood who Walter really was. They told him never to be ashamed of his real self. Walter finally admitted to his family that he was gay. His family knew all along. His mother embraced him for she wished she could endure all the worlds cruelties that she knew he would encounter.
Walter felt as if a huge weight had been lifted off of him. He was grateful for his friends that he knew he was destined to meet in college. If he would have never sat by Jeremy in Design 101, he would still be unhappy and trying to hide who he really was.

WOW! I like your post. How many other Walters are there out there...I know a few who went through the same thing--everyone else knew before they could grasp it themselves.
